My war letter

Monday 11th April 2021

12 Joyce Crescent Greymouth 7805

Dear my sister,

I am writing from the trenches don’t worry I am ok, but all there are is downsides.

I can see rotting dead bodies everywhere there is blood and gun bullets all around. And worst of all the rats nibble on the rotting dead bodies all day round.

I can hear the shots of the turkish guns trying to shoot the ANZACS. I can also hear the swords of both sides slashing against the wood   to sharpen them. I can also hear explosions, rain coming in, people screaming and voices in the distance.

I can taste dusty smoke and gunpowder. Hard stale biscuits I can taste also corn beef and jam stuck in my teeth. I can also taste canned food with dirt in and a little bit of gas, but mostly urine.

I can smell rotten bodies and dirty socks with blood stains on. I can also smell B.O,smoke, gas, stinky rats and pongy and dirty clothes. I can also smell strongly smell gun powder.

I feel itchy, muddy, dusty, unwell, gunpowder on my clothes, starving and home sick. My emotions are petrified, tired, shocked, unlucky, terrified and   FREEZING!

Sincerely yours stephanie your sister xxx
